We arrived late at the Contemporary Arts Center Cincinnati with just twenty minutes to view the exhibitions. To start, the building is extraordinary, as expected since it was designed by the late great Zaha Hadid.

We began on the top floor with Chris Larson: Function is Redundant, where several photographs from his “Deep North” series were on display, along with accompanying video documentation. Reconstructed architectural elements from Mark de Jong’s Swing House (a swing installed in a gutted three story house located in Cincinnati) were also on view. Alison Crocetta: A Circus of One, showcases Crocetta’s interdisciplinary practice with performance, sculptural form, film and sound, which merge together to form a single work.
