Axis Mundo focuses on a network of Queer Chicano artists who were working between Los Angeles and New York from the early 1960s through the early 1990s: a pivotal time for gay liberation and feminist movements, and the height of the AIDS crisis. Because this two-part exhibition is organized by ONE National Gay & Lesbian Archives at the USC Library, its displays are full of archival documents and works including many of the activist posters, punk band flyers, post cards, and underground magazines that gave rise to alternative print media and distribution.

This exhibition is on view at MOCA Pacific Design Center and ONE Archives’ gallery, temporarily located at 9007 Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood
