The Rest is a group exhibition of painters whose work dislodges from any one genre, and makes a successful attempt at redefining the image making process without traditional limitations imposed on artistic identity.

We were first introduced to the work of Jill Mulleady by Freedman Fitzpatrick in Los Angeles during her solo exhibition in 2017, and were thrilled to see the artist’s fantastical and thematically dark figurative paintings alongside Van Hanos, a recent transplant to Marfa, Texas, whose work ranges from figurative, landscape, still life and beyond, all boasting a technical mastery of several different styles of painting conducive to his subject. Nolan Simon introduces the “problem” of social media to the conversation, taking images found on different feeds and painting them as if they were printed on garments, nearly undetectable to the viewer.
